This week, we teamed up with everyone’s favorite ghosts to help us collect some donations! It is almost Halloween, but no, we're not talking about Casper and his friendly antics. Ahoy, mateys! We’re talking about the Savannah Ghost Pirates, who are ready to kick off their season later this month.
Enmarket Arena was buzzing with excitement Tuesday night as we joined the Ghost Pirates and their season ticket holders to celebrate at their season preview event. They helped us collect donations that would warm the hearts of even the iciest of pirates!
A surprise treasure trove of the evening was a chance encounter with a man who proudly declared that his entire outfit was thrifted from Goodwill Southeast Georgia! He explained how he scored a pair of limited-edition high tops, further proving that hidden gems are just waiting to be discovered in our stores.
Every donation and purchase from Goodwill Southeast Georgia supports workforce development programs right in our own backyard. Donated goods find their way to our retail stores, and the proceeds help fund free skills training at our five regional Opportunity Centers in Savannah, Statesboro, Waycross, Jesup, and Brunswick. These centers are the launchpads for our neighbors to access mid-wage jobs and build lasting careers, empowering individuals to secure a brighter future.
So far this year, (through September of 2023) Goodwill Southeast Georgia's Opportunity Centers have touched the lives of more than 2,102 individuals, with 341 finding their way into sustainable, mid-wage employment. It's a testament to what we like to call the cycle of good.
Remember, the cycle of good always starts with a simple act of donation. And we need your help to keep it going.
Join us in creating a positive impact. Donate your gently used items to Goodwill Southeast Georgia and you’ll see how quickly the cycle of good will come back around to you!
And for all you Ghost Pirates fans out there, keep an eye out for our unmistakable blue bins at games. They offer a quick and easy way to drop off your donations, making it even more convenient to contribute to our workforce development mission.
Want to join the Cycle of Good?
There are convenient donation centers all across our region!
