At Goodwill Southeast Georgia, we are committed to supporting our veterans as they build a brighter future for themselves and their families. We join them on their career journey whether that path leads them within our organization or beyond its boundaries.
At Goodwill, we firmly believe that every associate contributes invaluable expertise to our organization. That's why we take great pride in having veterans in key positions across our team. Their experiences, dedication, and leadership enrich our work environment and drive our mission forward.
“I want to thank all of you (veterans) for your service to our country. It means a lot,” says Michael Winckler, CEO.
"The values that we operate under as an organization are the same as the values that you lived through your service. We are honored that you chose to share your experience with our team and our community," Jason Marshall, Chief Operating Officer, told veterans and Goodwill Associates.
We had the privilege of honoring our Goodwill veterans with a "Honoring Our Heroes” breakfast event. Jovanny Quinones Lugo, an Army and Marine veteran working at G-Force Manufacturing, kicked off the event with a prayer and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Kirk Simmons, a fellow Goodwill associate and Air Force veteran, reminded the group of the importance of remembering prisoners of war and those missing in action.
Following Simmons’ poignant presentation of the Missing Man table, Quinones Lugo returned with his trumpet to play taps.
A new addition to the program this year was Beatriz McCarragher, who joined the event as a guest speaker. Currently a DEI Project Manager at Amazon, McCarragher shared her insights from her role now and her time serving in the Navy. Encouraging the group to view their military experience as an asset in civilian careers, she shared strategies on how veterans can showcase their skills during interviews. Above all, McCarragher inspired all in attendance to relentlessly pursue their goals.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the veterans on our team and in our community for their selfless service. At Goodwill Southeast Georgia, we are proud to offer services tailored uniquely to meet their needs. Our five Opportunity Centers serve as beacons of support, providing vital assistance to our entire community, including veterans and their families. Through employment opportunities, comprehensive training, and holistic support services, we aim to empower those who have served our nation.
Our dedicated career service specialists, well-versed in working with military populations, ensure that the transition to civilian life is as smooth and successful as possible. As we reflect on the inspiring moments shared during our Veterans Day event, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting our veterans in every step of their journey.
In the spirit of unity and gratitude, we thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice. Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for all.
