Celebrating Faith And Keylan! (1)

This National Intern Day, we are celebrating two outstanding students, Faith Agbehonou and Keylan Collins, who just completed 8 weeks with Goodwill Southeast Georgia as part of the 2024 Bank of America Student Leaders® program!

As a capstone to their summer program, Agbehonou and Collins are in Washington D.C. for a week-long, all expenses paid, national leadership summit for Student Leaders®.

Agbehonou is a rising senior at Woodville-Tompkins High School, studying healthcare and early childhood development. Collins is a rising senior at Savannah Early College with plans to study marine biology after graduation. Both students received leadership and workforce development skills training as part of their time at Goodwill Southeast Georgia.

“It’s a great opportunity to learn so many amazing things--including seeing what it takes to run a nonprofit organization and how it works as well,” says Collins.

“From the various educational and professional opportunities available to the public through the Opportunity Centers to Goodwill’s commitment to environmental sustainability, each sector of Goodwill is deeply involved in contributing to the mission,” says Agbehonou.

Agbehonou says a favorite Goodwill experience included spending a day training at the Eisenhower retail store. The students learned about the life cycle of a donation, the operations of the store, and how it all supports Goodwill’s Opportunity Centers.

“It was very enlightening to learn the life cycle of the donation and how much work and attention go into each step.”

Collins says he appreciated the opportunity to participate in an organization-wide poverty simulation. “(It) helped me see from a new perspective…and grow from it.”

The students’ creativity also stood out as they developed, pitched and prepared an individual project!

Agbehonou developed a Goodwill-themed escape room as an internal team-building activity. The puzzles and activities focused on reinforcing the Goodwill mission of empowerment through education, training, and employment opportunities. She developed a pre- and post-assessment completed alongside the activity to measure its impact on workplace efficiency readiness and the disposition of participants. Two groups of Associates had a great time participating in the final product!

VirtualTour

Collins used a 360-degree photography app to create a virtual tour of our Richmond Hill retail store and Opportunity Center. Along with visuals, the virtual tour includes informational hotspots explaining the services available at Goodwill’s Opportunity Centers. It also walks viewers through the life cycle of a donation, from the donor door to the retail store floor.

Listen in: Faith and Keylan share more about their Goodwill experience on the Good News Pod, Goodwill Southeast Georgia's podcast!

Here at Goodwill, we are inspired by Faith and Keylan’s creativity, leadership and passion for serving others and making a positive impact. We are excited for the next generation of leaders in our community and can’t wait to partner with them to build brighter futures!
