Introducing Brian Benton: A Community Connector
Brian Benton is all about connecting people with new experiences to learn and discover. It’s something he’s done in both his personal and professional life!
Benton is one of Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s newest Career Services Specialists. He is based at the Brunswick Goodwill Opportunity Center, connected to the Brunswick Goodwill outlet and retail store. In his role, he connects clients with opportunities to reach a brighter future through access to training, education, and support to find work.
He says he’s passionate about, “bridging the gap with any barriers (clients may face)” to their future success.
Benton started his career as an early childhood educator. He taught first grade for 5 years. Education and empowerment are key to Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s mission, so Benton’s skills fit in perfectly! He says “helping my community” is one of the aspects of his job he enjoys the most.
Benton also loves to foster connections within his community. When he’s not at work, Benton is an Ambassador for the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.
Benton loves to connect with experiences that are both relaxing and heart-pounding. He shares outside of work, he enjoys fishing, but also serves as a sky-diving instructor!
Benton has jumped right into his new role. You may have seen him at the opening of Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s first stand-alone donation center on St. Simons Island.
Donations are ultimately what make our free Opportunity Center services possible. Did you know: one bag of donations funds two hours of training for a client at our Opportunity Centers?
Benton was spotted at Goodwill’s “New Year, New You” job fair event, engaging jobseekers in conversation at the Goodwill photo booth.
