Celebrating Local Education Heroes: Teacher Book Giveaway 2023
We are taking a moment to give a huge shoutout to all the incredible teachers, school staff, and administrators across Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry! We know you rock, and we wanted to show our appreciation in a big way. That's why we held our Teacher Book Giveaway earlier this month!
Saturday, August 5th, was a day dedicated to educators – the amazing folks who go above and beyond for our students day in and day out. We totally get that being a teacher is no small feat, and educators often dig into their own pockets to make sure classrooms are filled with everything students need.
The average teacher is expected to spend about $820 of personal money on supplies, according to an analysis cited by the National Education Association. So, we decided to take some pressure off the teacher's wallets! At our event, a school ID gave you access to ten free books for local classrooms.
We also gave our incredible educators a sweet 10% discount on purchases all day. We wanted to make sure they felt the love, not just for their hard work, but for the passion they bring to teaching.
More than 120 awesome teachers, school staff, and administrators joined the fun and walked away with some fantastic reads. And the nearly 1,000 books we gave away? Well, they're on their way to spark the imaginations and curiosity of countless students. How cool is that?
We're all about community, and this event was a reminder of just how powerful that spirit can be. We're humbled by the impact educators have on our future leaders. We wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for everything you do.
So, here's to you, teacher superheroes! Keep shining, keep inspiring, and remember, Goodwill Southeast Georgia is here cheering you on every step of the way.
