Kenyada’s Loss Prevention Learning

At Goodwill Southeast Georgia, we believe in growth—both personally and professionally. That’s why we are happy to bring you this update to a spotlight story we shared earlier this year.

Kenyada first started as a retail team lead and assistant manager at our Berwick retail store. After earning her criminal justice degree from Savannah State University, she transitioned to a new role on our Safety and Loss Prevention team. But she didn’t stop there.

Recently, Kenyada took her career to the next level by obtaining a certification in investigative interview techniques.

Kenyada shares that interviewing is an essential skill in her position. "My position is Safety and Loss Prevention Specialist. On the asset protection side, specifically loss prevention, I conduct internal interviews with Associates, as well as external interviews with customers involved in (incidents like shoplifting)."

Earning her Wicklander-Zulawski certification was a major milestone. "It was a two-day course where I learned what questions to ask, how to obtain statements, and (more)."

“My very first interview—I was very, very nervous. The things I’m learning now is to go in there, don't be nervous. Just going in there and being confident and knowing that I know the questions that I'm asking and the information that I'm asking," says Kenyada.

Kenyada loves learning and growing in her job. She said, “When I (studied) criminal justice at Savannah State, I always had in mind 'I'm going to be a lawyer'. This role in loss prevention—and the certification—it’s still on the path I wanted to go.”

Kenyada’s story shows that Goodwill is more than just a place to work, it’s a place to grow a career. We’re so proud of her and excited to see what she does next!
