Fall is officially here, and October will be here before you know it! If you are counting down to Halloween and ready to add some spooky decorations to your home, a trip to Goodwill Southeast Georgia is all you need. Here are two fun and simple projects to get you started:
This idea is going viral—and for good reason! It’s super easy and brings a (friendly) ghostly touch to your home.
What You'll Need:
10” taper candles
Thrifted candelabras or candle stands (bonus points if you paint, color or modify them to give them extra Halloween flair!)
1. Fill a shallow container with very hot (but not boiling!) water. Be careful setting this up!
2. Place the candles in the water for about 8-10 minutes.
3. Take the candles out—use tongs gently if you need to—and bend the candle into a squiggly, ghostly shape!
Tip: Do this while the candles are still warm. If the candle feels cool, put new hot water in the container and give it a bit more time. A cooler candle might break.
4. Take paint, puffy paint, or paint/chalkboard marker and create a fun face for your ghost!
5. Place candle into the stand and enjoy your new décor!
Fueling creative projects is something that comes 'naturally' to us here at Goodwill. This project adds a subtle spooky vibe to your space. It’s like a mini haunted scene in a jar!
What You'll Need:
Thrifted jar
Mini Halloween decorations (collectibles, models, etc.)
Sand, rocks, or dirt for layers
1. Find or make mini spooky items to put in your jar. You can paint models or collectibles to make them extra creepy!
2. If items won’t stand up on their own, use wire or toothpicks to help.
3. Create levels in the jar using foam, cardboard, or paper.
4. Pour in sand, rocks, or dirt to build your haunted scene.
5. Press your spooky items into place.
6. Show off your haunted masterpiece!
That's just the start of your Halloween fun!
