The Goodwill team is excited after another great year connecting with neighbors at Swampfest 2026 in Downtown Waycross. Swampfest is a chance for families, local organizations, and small businesses to come together, and the Goodwill team was excited to be part of the fun.
Throughout the day, visitors who stopped by the Goodwill booth learned how everyday donations and purchases made in Waycross help support the Goodwill Opportunity Centers across Southeast Georgia (including the Waycross Opportunity Center!). These centers create pathways to career training, education, and employment. They are designed to be welcoming, supportive spaces where individuals can think about what’s next. It’s a great place to start your job search, build new skills, or prepare for a career change.
At Swampfest, the team also shared information about My Career Advisor, Goodwill’s no‑cost digital platform that extends opportunity far beyond the walls of the Opportunity Centers. Community members learned how these resources are available to them anytime, anywhere.
My Career Advisor puts opportunity in your hands 24/7, offering tools for résumé building, interview preparation, digital skills training, and career exploration-all at no cost. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to upskill, these resources are designed to grow with you.
Families visiting our booth also enjoyed hands‑on activities, including our Donation Detective game. Young “detectives” put on their hats and worked through clues to sort items into three categories:
- The Keep Pile: Items in good condition that still fit and are well‑loved
- The Donate Pile: Gently used pieces that no longer fit or match one’s current style
- The Not‑Ready‑to‑Donate Pile: Well‑loved items with holes, tears, or broken parts that are ready to be responsibly discarded
Families and our Donation Detectives walked away understanding why donating matters locally.
When you donate to Goodwill, your items do more than find a new home. They help fund job training, education, and employment opportunities right here in our community, turning spring cleaning into real, lasting impact for neighbors across Waycross and the surrounding areas.
We’re grateful to everyone who stopped by the Goodwill booth, asked questions, played along, and helped us continue strengthening our community, one opportunity at a time!
