Happy National Intern Day 2026!
This year, we’re proud to celebrate Jordan, a rising sophomore majoring in Information Technology and Business, whose curiosity, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning made a lasting impact at Goodwill Southeast Georgia this summer as a 2026 Bank of America Student Leader®.
Jordan began his journey at the Bank of America Student Leaders Summit in Charlotte before spending five weeks with Goodwill Southeast Georgia. Throughout the summer, he explored career pathways, developed new skills, contributed meaningful work, and gained firsthand insight into how a mission-driven nonprofit creates opportunities for individuals and families across our region.
Discovering New Career Paths
One of Jordan’s favorite experiences began at the Goodwill Opportunity Center, where he participated in Goodwill’s virtual reality career exploration program.
The immersive simulations helped Jordan better understand which career paths matched his interests.
“When I did the experience and did different career simulations of different careers I may be into, it showed me the ones that I actually liked.”
Jordan also utilized Goodwill’s no-cost career resources, including a career interest profiler through My Career Advisor.
“It has given me a clear view on where I want to go in life and the career I want to pursue,” said Jordan.
More than an internship
Throughout the five-week program, Jordan immersed himself in nearly every aspect of the organization. Some of his experiences included:
- Marketing team meetings and creative discussions
- Brand storytelling and audience engagement planning
- Strategic marketing projects and campaign development
- Customer persona development and marketing planning
- Creation of an AI-powered persona creation tool using Microsoft Copilot
As an Information Technology and Business student, Jordan was especially interested in technology and innovation. During his internship, he:
- Completed the Google AI Professional Certificate
- Worked alongside Goodwill’s IT team
- Explored data-driven decision-making practices
- Learned how technology supports departments across the organization
- Gained hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving
Seeing the Mission in Action
Jordan also spent time experiencing Goodwill’s mission firsthand. He volunteered alongside Goodwill Associates, explored workforce development programs, helped prepare school supply backpacks, and visited Goodwill stores, outlets, manufacturing operations, and e-commerce facilities. These experiences helped him understand how donations of clothing and household items, as well as Goodwill’s various programs, generate the funding to support life-changing services throughout Southeast Georgia.
When asked about the impact Goodwill’s services have had on his life, his answer was simple:
“Amazing, one of the best I have ever experienced!”
We are grateful to Bank of America for investing in future leaders through the Student Leaders program and honored that Jordan spent his summer with Goodwill Southeast Georgia. His creativity, curiosity, and willingness to learn left a lasting impression on our team.
