Unlock the Extra Day: Leap into Savings, Giving, and Growth!
As the calendar grants us an extra 24 hours this year, why not seize this opportunity to make a difference?
When you visit your local Goodwill, you can make the most of Leap Day 2024 by donating with purpose, expanding horizons through skill-building activities, and shopping for treasures! Let's dive into this bonus day with enthusiasm, determination, and a commitment to positive change!
1) Clean out your closet…and bring those donations to Goodwill!
It’s never too early to start your spring cleaning—even if it’s not fully spring yet!
Here’s a checklist to help you get started:
In 2023, donations to Goodwill Southeast Georgia helped to keep more than 13 million pounds of usable items out of local landfills.
This checklist is just a start—there are plenty of areas of opportunity! Think of your garage, home office, kitchen and bathroom.
2) Visit the Opportunity Center and learn a new skill!
Goodwill Southeast Georgia operates 5 Opportunity Centers attached to our retail locations in Savannah (Sallie Mood Drive), Statesboro, Jesup, Brunswick and Waycross. All centers offer free services to the public in support of Goodwill’s mission to build brighter futures through education and career building.
The Opportunity Centers offer courses on topics such as customer service, accounting, business operations and more through Career Campus. Goodwill also partners with technical colleges near each Opportunity Center (Savannah Tech, Ogeechee Tech and Coastal Pines). Through an individualized development plan, Goodwill’s career service specialists can help clients identify their next steps, including valuable learning and certification opportunities. Scholarship support is available!
Right now, with manufacturing opportunities on the rise in our region, we have many clients interested in forklift, CDL and jockey truck training. We help them pursue and achieve that dream! Check out Dianne’s story below.
3) Shop our retail stores and know that every purchase supports Opportunity Center services.
The services at Goodwill's Opportunity Centers are made possible by your support! Our retail stores, G-Force Manufacturing and our contract services programs all fund our mission. That means when you shop Goodwill, you are helping someone in your community find a career pathway. Those careers provide financial independence and sustainable futures for local families.
Bonus: Round up your change to give extra support!
Our Change Round-Up program is supported by generous customers who round up their change as an additional gift to our Opportunity Center. 100% of the funds generated through this program go directly to support our mission.
Thank you for your support!
You Donate. We Train. Jobs Earned. Lives Changed.
