GOODWILL LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAMS FOR THE NEW YEAR
How Goodwill is working to strengthen families and help job seekers in the community
January 16, 2018 SAVANNAH, GA- Did you make a new year’s resolution to get your finances under control? How about learn a new skill? Goodwill’s free new programs can help you reach your goals and get you on your way to financial stability and even a new job!
Goodwill has teamed with Wells Fargo to develop their Financial Literacy initiative. Learn how to gain perspective on how to live on a budget, manage your credit and improve your financial well-being.
“Wells Fargo knows that talking to people about money, saving and the purpose of a budget is invaluable” stated Amy Singh, Wells Fargo VP Program Manager, “We are very fortunate to work with Goodwill to offer free in-person financial education on a variety of topics. All are designed to help individuals learn more about resources and options to meet their financial goals.”
Helping individuals take control of their finances is just one of the ways Goodwill is helping the local community. Programs like this support their mission to strengthen families by providing the tools for self-empowerment.
“We are excited to be starting 6-week class teaching computer basics this month” said Meredith Champagne, Workforce Services Director. “Participants will have the opportunity to learn from the ground up so they can become comfortable navigating job searches, emails, building resumes and much more.”
As well as these programs, Goodwill is offering two ‘New Year, Better Me!’ workshops this month to kick-start your job search and connect you with opportunities in the community. These intensive, 4-hour sessions will cover everything from personal skill assessment to mock interviews, and include a take-home success pack to get you on the right path. Goodwill has also partnered with local businesses to arrange interview sign ups during the event. The workshops will be held at the Moses Jackson Community Center on January 24th and at the Sallie Mood Drive Location on January 25th.
