Goodwill Hosts Formal Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration for New Donation Express

Celebrating Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s first Donation Express in Statesboro, GA
Statesboro, GA-Goodwill Southeast Georgia will celebrate a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 3039 W Northside Drive, Suite 3065. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. Goodwill encourages the community to bring a bag of donations to the event. There will be prizes and giveaways for the first 30 donors.  “We’re thrilled to bring the Donation Express concept to Statesboro,” said Cynthia Barnes, Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s Vice President of Community Engagement. “The Statesboro community has long supported our mission to help individuals overcome barriers to employment. We’re pleased to be able to make the donation experience more convenient with this new west-side location.”

Donation Express facilities are freestanding, staffed facilities with one purpose: Make donating easier. Goodwill team members are available to carry donations from vehicles to the facility. Nothing is sold, and no programs are operated at the facility.

The Statesboro Donation Express — which will be open 7 days a week.  Hours are 11 AM to 7 PM Monday-Saturday and Sunday Noon to 6 PM. Goodwill operates a retail store and Job Connection Center at 24015 US-80 in Statesboro. In 2018, Goodwill Southeast Georgia collected more than 16 million pounds of donated clothing, housewares, furniture, electronics, glassware, and other goods. The resale of those donations supported over 40,000 services provided across the organization’s 33-county service area.

Goodwill Southeast Georgia touched the lives of more than 6,600 job seekers in 2018 providing individual support, training and professional development and employment services.   The Goodwill Job Connection Center offers free services including facilitated online learning, digital skills assessment, and hospitality industry training designed to close the gap between employers and job seekers.
