Now more than ever, Goodwill is called upon to make a difference.
The COVID-19 crisis has been a sobering reminder of the vulnerability that we all share as human beings.
With the sudden and rapid spread of the virus, a majority of businesses in our community found themselves shutting their doors for several weeks. In mid-March, Goodwill made the decision to close all of our retail stores and centers to ensure the safety of our associates, shoppers, and clients. The results of these closures have left many of our neighbors furloughed or unemployed.
Though Goodwill depends on our retail operations to support our mission, we made the commitment to continue delivering our programs and services- and were able to do so by transitioning to a virtual services model. As our community adapts to the ‘new normal’ and businesses began to slowly open their doors in the coming weeks, many more individuals will depend on the services provided by Goodwill to obtain meaningful employment again.
