Business Leaders Join Goodwill Golf Tournament to Raise Money for Job Seekers

BUSINESS LEADERS JOIN GOLF TOURNAMENT TO RAISE MONEY FOR JOB SEEKERS IN BRUNSWICK, GA
Goodwill of Southeast Georgia funds sustainable employment programming

BRUNSWICK, GA- On Tuesday November 14th, 55 business leaders participated in the inaugural Goodwill Southeast Georgia Golf Tournament. More than $8,000 in proceeds from the event will go directly to support job seekers who utilize the Goodwill Job Connection Center in Brunswick.

Kicking off the tournament, Mason Waters, regional president of United Community Bank, presented a $2,600 donation to Michael Winckler, president and CEO of Goodwill Southeast Georgia. These funds will provide TWIC card assistance for port employees in Brunswick and training programs in the local community.  TWIC cards are required for all port workers and at approximately $130 each, individuals often find them to be a significant barrier to employment.

Michael Winckler expressed appreciation to presenting sponsor International Auto Processing (IAP) and both former and current CEOs, Bob Miller and Don Asdell.  Mr. Winckler stated “We are proud of the collaborative working relationship we have with the leadership team at IAP, and we are very grateful for their support of our workforce development efforts in the community.”

The Goodwill Job Connection Center and Goodwill Staffing Services (formerly G-Star Staffing) are located at 249 Village at Glynn Place and is available for anyone seeking employment in the South Georgia region.  Goodwill’s Job Connection center serves as resource centers for individuals needing assistance in all aspects of the job search process, including hiring opportunities, job fairs, resume writing, interview skills and career counseling.  Goodwill Staffing Services (or GSS) provides temporary, temp-to-perm and direct placement services.  GSS is a primary staffing services provider for International Auto Processing at Georgia Ports Authority facility at Colonel’s Island.

Goodwill Southeast Georgia operates Job Connection Centers in Brunswick, Savannah, Statesboro and Waycross.  Last year, they provided services to more than 6,900 job seekers and place more than 1,200 into sustainable employment. Visit www.goodwillsega.org for more information.
