Stories of Impact: Sally Rejas – American Legion Post 27

I first became connected with Goodwill when I was a child. My mother, as a single parent, could only afford to shop at Goodwill, and those early memories stuck with me. It was a place where we could find quality items while being mindful of our budget.
As an adult, I’ve continued to appreciate Goodwill not just for its affordable options but for the many initiatives they’ve launched to support communities in need.
As a veteran, I know how tough the transition to civilian life can be, especially when it comes to finding stable employment. Goodwill’s work in helping individuals, including veterans, find jobs has been incredibly valuable. It’s something I can personally relate to and admire.
Now, as the leader of our American Legion Post 27, I’ve seen firsthand the impact Goodwill has made, not just through monetary support, but also through the resources they provide for veterans and military families.
Goodwill’s commitment to our community, especially in helping Veterans transition back into the workforce, has been nothing short of amazing. We deeply appreciate their ongoing support and the positive difference they make in the lives of those who have served.
Everyone should support Goodwill and its mission. It is the gift that keeps on giving. Full circle. We donate, we purchase and it goes out to the community.

As we approach Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s 60th anniversary, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible support and connection we’ve had with Goodwill over the years.
One of the most memorable events we had last year was Dapper Night, a Goodwill-inspired fashion show fundraiser. It was such a fun and impactful evening, and it truly brought our community together.
What made it even more special was that three employees from Goodwill attended as judges. This was the first time many members of our organization got to see firsthand what Goodwill does for the community, especially in terms of supporting veterans.
It was a wonderful experience to see how Goodwill’s efforts extend beyond just offering great deals but also through meaningful programs that help individuals and families in need. We laughed, we celebrated, and we had a fantastic time showcasing outfits from Goodwill while raising awareness and funds for our cause.
The support for our veterans and the community was clear, and it made us feel even more connected to the mission of Goodwill. I’m excited for their 60th anniversary and look forward to many more years of partnership and shared commitment to serving those in need.
