Starting the Year with Service
Goodwill Associates Empower the Next Generation
At Goodwill Southeast Georgia, the new year begins with one of our core values: service. After dedicating 60 hours to local organizations during our 60th anniversary in 2025, we’re carrying that momentum forward into 2026.
Recently, a team of Goodwill Associates volunteered at the Junior Achievement Colonial Group Discovery Center, supporting its Finance Park program. More than 30 students from Susie King Taylor Community School in Savannah stepped into a day of real-world learning-an experience designed to spark confidence and financial literacy.

Through JA Finance Park, 7th and 8th graders take on a “life scenario” complete with a career, salary, and family responsibilities. They navigate choices like housing, transportation, and groceries, apply for loans, and discover how credit scores shape their future. It’s hands-on learning that empowers students to dream big and plan wisely.
For Goodwill, this partnership is deeply meaningful. Financial education and skill-building mirror our mission to advance economic mobility and opportunity. Seeing our own Goodwill storefront in action-added to the Discovery Center in October 2025-was a proud moment. Designed to reflect our regional retail, donation and Opportunity Center locations, the storefront shows students how sustainable shopping can make a difference: every purchase supports job training, career services, and community programs.

The Discovery Center, located on Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus, serves over 13,000 middle school students from across Coastal Georgia each year. Through immersive programs like JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, students gain tools for success-budgeting, career planning, and civic responsibility.
The Goodwill Southeast Georgia team is excited to continue volunteering with Junior Achievement and to keep inspiring the next generation. Together, we’re building stronger communities and brighter futures-one student, one opportunity at a time.
