Goodwill is known for our amazing Donated Goods Retail stores, but did you know that’s only one of the business programs that make up our social enterprise? As we celebrate 60 years of service, we’re taking a trip through time to highlight some of the incredible ways Goodwill Southeast Georgia has fueled opportunity and innovation.
Let’s go back to 1989 – full of memorable moments. The Little Mermaid made waves in theaters, The Oakland A’s saw success at the World Series, and Paula Abdul’s pop hit Straight Up topped the charts. At the same time, something big was happening here at Goodwill Southeast Georgia – we established a manufacturing partnership with Gulfstream Aerospace.
G-Force Manufacturing, started with simple mission – to provide employment and meaning training opportunities for individuals while producing high quality goods for an external client. As a diverse social enterprise, business programs like G-Force support our mission in a sustainable business model.
Since then, G-Force Manufacturing has evolved into a AS9100 certified build-to-print contract manufacturer, specializing in assembly, kitting, and CNC automation. This program has opened doors for countless individuals, many from a military background or looking for a second chance to work. G-Force is providing a launchpad into the high-demand and growing manufacturing industry, with our mission at the heart.
With a mission focus, G-Force provides a safe place for individuals to learn, grow, and earn a second chance. The operation employs about 45 associates, many of whom are veterans or have been justice-involved. A dedicated internal learning and development program allow for professional and financial growth for the team.
Since it’s launch in 1989, G-Force has steadily grown, achieving success with our client as well as regionally. Based on their history or outstanding service, G-Force has been named Supplier of the Year by Gulfstream, first in 2008, then three more times!
Due to the continued growth and success of the partnership with Gulfstream, G-Force made the move to a new 35,000 sq ft facility in Pooler in 2015. With additional opportunities with Gulfstream and to position themselves towards to the future, G-Force pursued and achieved AS9100 certification in 2016!
Through this certification, G-Force demonstrated a commitment to quality, safety, and reliability, essential for success in the aerospace industry.
In 2024, G-Force received the Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Silver Award, recognizing their commitment to continuous improvement and excellence within the region. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, resilience, and innovation that drive G-Force forward.
