Stories of Impact: Spring 2025 Phlebotomy Cohort
Congratulations to the Spring 2025 Phlebotomy Cohort!
A new class of Phlebotomy graduates are taking their next step toward exciting opportunities in the healthcare field.
On May 8, 2025, Goodwill Southeast Georgia and Savannah Tech representatives proudly celebrated the accomplishments of the Spring 2025 Phlebotomy Cohort during a special graduation and pinning ceremony at Savannah Technical College. This event marked the end of a 12-week training program and the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates.
“You go forth, you now put forth the knowledge that you have earned. Knowing that Goodwill is here to support you along the way. Just because you are sitting here today with your beautiful caps and gown and outfits and things of that nature, it’s not over. This is just the beginning,” said Veronica Styron, Vice President of Mission Services at Goodwill Southeast Georgia.

This achievement was made possible through Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s strong partnership with
Savannah Technical College, which brings accessible, high-quality skills training to
Goodwill’s Opportunity Center in Savannah. Together, the organizations are preparing individuals not just for jobs-but for long-term careers that support economic mobility and community well-being.
Phlebotomy is one of several
career pathway programs offered through Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s
Opportunity Centers and community partnerships. These programs are designed to equip participants with hands-on training, certifications, and career readiness support in high-demand fields like healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and more. From day one, participants receive wraparound services, job coaching, and the encouragement they need to succeed.

“If there is a challenge you are facing, please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and give us a call because we want you to succeed. We want to see you excel at your goals and at your dreams,” says Styron.
“Adult education is not easy. It takes commitment, it takes sacrifice,” said Jason Marshall, President and CEO of Goodwill Southeast Georgia, as he addressed the graduates. “Taking responsibility for one’s own education, being able to advance yourselves into better prosperity are all things you should be very, very proud of.”
Two students gave speeches at the ceremony, recalling fond memories of the course and looking ahead with excitement to the next steps.
“I learned the importance of competence, communication and compassion. It’s our job not just to perform a procedure, but to help people feel safe and respected in the process,” reflected Dayonna Vaughn. “This class is another step towards my future in healthcare and I’m very grateful for every challenge, every lesson and every person and everyone who was part of this training.”
“I must say a special thank you to Goodwill and Savannah Tech for this opportunity. This certification allows new chances and new open doors to a brighter future,” shared Taiza Campbell.
The Goodwill Southeast Georgia team is incredibly proud of the determination and hard work this cohort has shown. With this graduation and their future plans, all are taking steps that align with their personal and professional goals.
“Remember when you go out into the healthcare field to take courage, because you earned your place. Take courage because you have earned every right to be there,” says Danielle Campbell, Career Services Specialist at the Savannah Opportunity Center.
Congratulations again to the Spring 2025 Phlebotomy graduates! We can’t wait to see how you continue to grow and impact your communities through your next chapter.
