For survivors of family violence, starting over takes more than just courage-it takes support, resources, and a safe place to land. That’s exactly what the Magnolia House in Waycross strives to provide. Its staff say Goodwill Southeast Georgia’s Opportunity Center is a key community partner, helping clients take powerful steps toward stability and self-sufficiency. “Goodwill’s Opportunity Center is vital for helping us get folks jobs in our community,” says Tanner Briggs, Outreach and Rapid Rehousing Advocate. “Anytime we meet someone who’s unemployed, we tell them, reach out to Goodwill.” From resume help and job searches to clothing vouchers that provide interview or work-ready attire from the Goodwill retail store, Magnolia House clients have found real, practical help at the Opportunity Center. But it’s about more than just services. For Magnolia House staff, the true impact lies in how Goodwill treats every person who walks through the door-with dignity, compassion, and belief in their potential.

Since 1965, Goodwill Southeast Georgia has transformed countless lives by empowering individuals to achieve their highest potential. Throughout the year, we will honor this legacy of impact by sharing inspiring stories of the GOOD we have accomplished together. Stay tuned for more stories, videos, memories and more! “They’re already dealing with a lot,” says Briggs. “So not having a barrier to getting help-it makes such a difference. It’s a blessing.” Tadren Harris, Victim Advocate at Magnolia House, agrees. “We have clients from all over the world. Many feel defeated because of what’s happened in their past or what’s on their background. I tell them, ‘It doesn’t matter. The Opportunity Center can help you.’ I’m so grateful for that.” With hands-on job training, supportive staff, and a deep commitment to second chances, Goodwill’s Opportunity Centers are helping clients from Magnolia House-and so many others-move forward with confidence and hope. “It’s easy when you have someone you can just call,” says Harris.
