The Goodwill Southeast Georgia team is proud to celebrate Africa Bennett, recognized as a 2025 Champion at
Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society’s Night of Champions event.
Africa is a production tech Associate at Goodwill Southeast Georgia, working for more than 18 years with the organization. She embodies perseverance, resilience and growth. Despite facing mobility challenges, Africa has never let her wheelchair define her. With support from Goodwill and her colleagues, she has built financial independence, culminating in the
proud achievement of home ownership.
Known for her work ethic, positivity and customer service, Africa continues to inspire those around her while independently navigating public transportation and striving for new goals for herself and her son.
Africa, with the support of family, friends and her Goodwill teammates, proudly received her award.
“I would just like to say thank you to everyone. Thank you for Goodwill. Thank you to my family, my friends-without y’all I wouldn’t be here.”

Africa says through Goodwill she has found support and a fulfilling role.
“Having a job, I have my own freedom and independence and responsibility and to know that I cared for someone else that makes me feel good,” shares Africa. “Regardless of my barrier or not, they help and make sure everything is out of the way.”
She adds the people she’s met along the way have made all the difference.
“My managers play a big part in coming to work with a positive attitude.”
“I noticed that she could do more,” says Kalambia McQuater, manager at the Goodwill Southeast Georgia Eisenhower retail store. “So, I started moving her around to see what she could do. And I found out Africa can do anything. She never complains. She comes in, she’s on time, she never calls out and she motivates me.”

“The word ‘can’t’ isn’t in her vocabulary. Having her on my team is a great asset.”
At Goodwill Southeast Georgia, we recognize that every Associate adds crucial value to our organization through their individual skills and talents. We celebrate the diverse and talented individuals who make up our team!
